No. 131 Pvt. Lloyd Davis 37420240 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa July 26, 1943 Dearest, Your letter of July 9 came today. I was so happy to receive it. A letter from you has always made me feel glad - even so long ago as when you wrote me in Chicago. I am glad you tried to write something of how things are with you. I'm not saying a word to all the interested parties about your troubles. Of course I tell that a good letter came and that you apparently aren't or were not on the 9th, in any new wars. I'm concerned if you don't fell well, but I'm glad to know as nearly how you are as you can say. Try to get all the medical care you can that you think you need. I know you never put on things. It won't be so good if you are the only older man, but you must have been considered a good soldier to be kept with the young men. Maybe you won't have as tough jobs now for a while as you did. They didn't censor anything in the letter. I'd like to be able to do something for you that would be a real help. Try to write me whatever you think. When you aren't working too hard write like you used to. War can't hurt our affection at all. I want only to be your good wife so tell me what I should do or write, and anything you wish I wouldn't. I love my husband. There is no better in the world. Goodnight, Laura. V-Mail
