Saving...
Private Lloyd Davis L. B.Davis 2409 D Ave. N.E. Cedar Rapids Iowa Aug. 8, 1943 Dear Lloyd It has been quite some time since I have written you so will try to inform you of the activity here at home. I am starting my vacation today. don't know for sure just what I will do. but whatever it is will try to enjoy it and at the same time help win the war. You boys over there sure are doing a swell job so far. We are having our usual hot & sticky weather the past few weeks. I suppose Laura told you that we lost Uncle Carle. Dad & I attended the funeral, he surely had a multitude of friends. I returned home the same day but Dad is still up there visiting the Fullers which he is so close. Things here at home are going along about as usual. Nothing very exciting. I wish I could be there with you. We sure would have some unusual experiences. I bet. I saw Ester Stamey up to Aunt Maudes, she told me that her son Jim is in England. he is in the Air Corps. George is doing fine on the farm, working night & day, Sundays & holidays. I understand, trying to produce his share of corn & beef which is so vital to the war effort. Our new airport project is progressing rapidly, also are training a large number of cadets here at Coe and Iowa City to help you boys with the job at hand. well Lloyd I will sign off for this time hoping and praying this finds you in the best of health. Your Cousin, Jack
