No. 1 PFC Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa August 29, 1943 Dearest, You said not to write as you would soon have a new address, but that has been a month now and the letter that came yesterday still had the same address. I'll write again now unless you repeat I'm not to write. It seems so strange not to write the daily letter to my laddie. But if forwarded mail doesn't get to you, I'll do just as you say. It is Sunday and a very pretty day. I got up and went to Rosemonts Flower Shop to get two dozen glads for the Baptist church. The kind Leone got for mother and the only flowers she liked at the hospital. They made nice church decorations. I didn't have any announcement made and I didn't ask or tell Georges. I got them for you, as your remembrance. Then later Hazel & I went to church there as Mr. Anderson was back from his vacation. Then I cut 8 hydrangea blooms from the bush in our back yard and made two bouquets for the cemetary; Hazel and I took them out. So many little things have taken place this past month. Also, I am now on Miss Taft's staff and have an office in the basement of Colesman with the Office of Civilian Defense. I started last Monday, spending four days in Des Moines So I'll be here until you come home and you can think of me always as being in our home. Tell me all you can about your illness. I'm trying to help all the time. More than this note can tell. I love my husband. Love, Laura V-Mail
