No. 4 Pfc Lloyd Davis, 37420240 A.P.O.9 Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 1, 1943 Dearest, A quiet evening tonight. Miss Hartleb my supervisor from Des Moines was in and I had to talk with her for four hours this afternoon. Then we ate supper at the Harmony and went on our separate ways. Leone's mother phones to say thanks for hydrangea bouquet I gave Leone for her. And Mrs. Pickard called about coming to supper next week some time. I've written a fat letter to Freda down in Texas. She understands a lot of this war business because she was at Camp Dodge before. It is early but I'm going to bed soon. There are chores around here that I might do, but they will keep! They never have run away! More than anything else I guess I miss our talks and good companionship. No matter where we are, the love and companionship continues. You don't seem very far away. I guess that shows it is as true love. You mentioned we'd go on living happily like we did as soon as you are back. we will have a happy family always honey because we have real love. Nothing can beat us because of that. I had an interesting time yesterday interviewing laundry operators. They can't get help to run the machines they do have. And more people want their clothes washed. I'll be in the place you made for me, laddie. To my husband, Love Laura [two smiling faces] V-Mail
