No. [30?] (CENSOR'S STAMP) Pfc Lloyd David 37420240 0.9 Mrs. Lloyd Davis (Sender's Name) 81-19 St. S.E. (Sender's address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 3, 1943 (Date) Dearest work went good again. I had supper with Miss Hunt and Miss Noris of the City Nurses. Then I shopped at Me Too and home to hunt my ration book. I found it ok, I had just put it away too well in an inside pocket of the new pocketbook the relief staff gave me for a going away gift. Then Elsie Pritchard and I went out to shop in the neighborhood stores and to get ice. She sold her car so she thinks a short ride is a real treat. With gas tickets worth only 3 gallons apiece I have to plan my trips carefully since I'll be driving our car on my new job it will be necessary to apply for a [3rd?] book. I'd rather not, but there is not other way to manage. I was in Quaker today, the part where women work. It was so sticky hot and noisy. I'm glad I don't have to adjust to those working conditions. My supervisor from Des Moines went back today. She'll be here again next week. She is real good at her job and pleasant personally too, so I'm fortunate. we have to news of the Italian invasion now. Naturally I wonder what that means for you. All we can do is be good and tough and wait until the miserable jobs are done; then we can be together. I have the best husband. Love to Laddie, Laura
