transports and go directly to base X. One thing, however, is definite at this time. We have a five day leave beginning the afternoon of Oct 9 and ending at 6:00am Oct 15. That is only a week from tomorrow, consequently we have already signed for fares on the trains to various points. Chicago is the point nearest home so I will go there and try to get home and back if there is time. hope there will be about two days I can be home. This part of the camp will be closed during leave so we go home or go somewhere for these five days. As plans now stand, I will leave here about 7:30pm Oct 9 and arrive in Chicago about the same hour on Oct 10. Then I hope to get a train - there used to be one which leaves about midnight- to Fort Dodge. Have written to Sue to find out about ways to get from Chicago to home. Haven't heard from her yet. I'll take the Pennsylvania special from here to Chicago. Thought you might arrange to be there that evening. That is as you wish, but it is as near as I can get under the circumstances. Time
