Saving...
have to serve in relays. Even our bugler is among the lot. It's strange how a few can cause so much trouble for the battalion and themselves. The folks at home seemed in a better state of health than last summer. Everything was as usual. Tom is still deferred. I doubt if he will be called since the operation of the farm really depends upon him. The present board realizes this fact. This is a camp and supply center known as an Advance Base Depot, hence the A.B.D. It is just being built. The barracks are new and modern. We expected to stay only a few days but it has been a week monday since we arrived. We were all dressed and packed to leave for another base, probably on the West coast, this morning but the trip was called off the last minute. The reason given was the failure to get pullman trains, as we had before. We were told the trip would take two days and two nights. Of course we don't know where we're going. Suppose we'll be off in a day or two.
