Saving...
Dearest, A real red letter today laddie. Your letter of March 12 came, so you see why I am so enthusiastic. I have worked harder both office and home the last few days. Yet I got up with more pep for a Saturday at the office than I usually have, even when I hadn't been "on the night shift" Friday evening at the office like I was last night. Maybe I just knew in my bones that there was going to be a letter in the box this noon to reward my extra efforts! You know just how it is to wait for letters, so I don't have to tell you anything about that. We'd give everything but honor and courage to be together, but a letter is a big help as a substitute for us until we meet again. // Mrs McGiverin(??) still can't work so I had her 13 yr old boy here. I think he'll be good help. He brought n the rest of the fireplace wood. And scrubbed the fireplace and kitchen. He can wash windows and lots of things I can scarcely get to myself, and he's a heat lad for a youngster. // I bought cloth to make kitchen curtains, the two sizes of windows makes it about impossible to buy ready made ones - then we get better material in the yard goods too. Plain white - real crisp cloth. Laker ordered the paper I selected. I'll send samples in a regular letter later. I don't want to make any funny changes, just keep stuff up in a taste I think you would like. // Cool but fine weather. // I'm having good health - not even a cold. // War news is good. // I'll be in my place soon. I love my husband. Love, Laura [smiley face]
