Saving...
April 6, 1943 Dearest, A rainy night and pretty cool. The fire was out and the house was 50 when I got home. I got it heated up good, soon. Tonight I had supper with Chas. King at the coffee shop. We visited this evening. He is a Priv. but is instructing on turret maintenance in a school at Columbia Air. He came through Spartanburg on the way home "it is a sort of fun town" was his remark. He may be in this location for a good long time. He went to Winterset to see Betty Sat and Sun. Apparently Betty is being good to him now. Now that that no account Ray is married maybe the air is cleared. I was glad to visit a little with him, but when it comes to listening to remarks on army things, whatever you have to tell me will be lots more interesting! I don't mean the affectionate things you and I have, but just you telling my any of the every day things is so much more interesting talk than anyone else telling it. Then the secrets will will have to get caught up on will be a mile high pile. None of our friends have as good secrets and you and I do. I suppose that is being a little self satisfied, but we do have the best kind of life together, so I think it is true, don't you? No news from anyone in letters except Andy. The family welfare in St. Paul thinks it wants to hire me, but I don't think either you or I would decide on that when we got all the angles before us. So I am not doing a thing to the offer. Will reject it when the written one comes. I love my laddie. Goodnight, Laura
