your actions and ideas and activities have a big effect on what Earl will consider. She said confidentially that Earl never would have married if you hadn't, and hadn't been so satisfied with married life. Their apartment is fixed up nice and she keeps it swell. But I'm all the more appreciative that we have a house with a nice yard and are not couped into three rooms. Of course with only me here, an apartment would be plenty of space. But I'm glad to have this as our home. People wonder that I don't try to find some one of the girls to keep house with me. They don't understand, and I don't try to tell them, how I feel about it being the home you and I have even if you are away for awhile. I don't want any female substitute for a family. If my aunt -- or any of your or my kind -- could be helped out a while by staying here I'd be as helpful as possible to them.
