July 12, 1944 Dearest, The show on Tunis was fine. It showed good maps and kept flashing back to them after each battle to show what part of the strategy plans had been completed. It was a series of cuts from official British and American Service films. It reviewed the whole war in Africa. Mrs. Hunt said she was in the Board Room today and bragged about you a little. She said she knew I never would and she figured the Board would appreciate your promotions. Can you beat that? I met Helen Stepanek on the street today. She said Uncle Enos and Uncle Emil and Aunt Fanny were all pretty well. She asked about you, of course. She always struck me as being very nice and I'd like to know her better. She seems no more Bohemian than you. She said she didn't visit Uncle Emil because she can't talk Bohemian and that was a big surprise to me. In a little way she reminds me of Lenora except she's taller, not excited, and more American. It is wonderful summer weather.
