Saving...
Monday Evening Dearest, I sent your air mail letter and I think it was in time to be collected tonight. I also took the last few papers and made some clippings and bundled them into an envelope. You may think you're getting a letter but I didn't put in a note as the clippings seemed to be making it full enough. Then I thought of that copy of that miserable letter and decided to fix up another envelope. There seem to be things I forget and so I'll try to jot down at least one of them. Two solicitations came addressed to you for money for Boys Town. I didn't pay any attention as I didn't think you'd especially be interested in them though I wondered how you got on their mailing list unless you'd donated before. There are, I think, childrens agencies that do a better job on their cases even if they don't get the public attention Father Flanagan's home has had. Iowa Childrens Home Society (DM) or American Home Finding at Ottumwa are well worth support. If your sentiments differ just up and speak your mind. The boys of the county as well as my fellow workers ask me often about your military news. Not curious like, but just interested. That is nice, I think. I'll go to bed soon now. And you may be sure I'm in war war's place. Love, Laura [Sept 5, 1943]
