Saving...
817 19th St. S. E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa December 3, 1943 Dearest, It is such a pretty day today. You can't imagine a better day for a December one in Iowa. It is cool enough for the snap that makes one feel peppy, and still it is comfortable. I am waiting for an appointment so I just thought I would run off a line while I have to wait. The mail carrier did not come before I had to go to work so I do not know whether any important mail came today or not. Things are going very well. My cold is very much better. Food even tastes good again, so it is proof of my recovery. I think one should eat lightly when trying to beat a cold, so my friends have noticed that I was sort of going back on my reputation as being a person that could store away the groceries! The appointment came along on time, so I took this out of the machine. Now I'm writing this at home. I'm also enclosing an office note I started Nov. 6 then brought home and never completed or sent. This got a bit wrinkled in transit. Uncle Lew and i drove all over SW Side this afternoon trying to find space to put a child care center. It is an easier project to talk about, than to do, as space is scarcer than the proverbial hens teeth! We need space, located near through traffic and bus service, with play space within walking distance. Lincoln School with a church kitty corner seemed one prospect. There are no empty store buildings and service stations are all that are vacancies. I'll send these notes tonight instead of a V-mail letter. I love my laddie. I'm in my place. Goodnight.
