Saving...
a heart attack Tuesday. I haven't been over to see her. They have been gone, or else I have been. I met her brother from Louisa, but not this one from Grande Avenue. Maybe you knew him. George is going to be an air cadet now. Perhaps I told you before. He originally went to an anti-aircraft camp for basic training. And Helen Turner's husband has been gone a couple months now. Mrs Fisher thinks Floyd will have to go by spring too. His youngsters are growing so fast. Christmas shoppers have been urged to get into gear early this year because of limited transportation facilities. So stores look now like they used to about the 18th or 20th of December. Window decorations are more simple. The children are the most interesting of all to see -- as always. There are many stuffed animals in toy departments. I suppose because they use the least vital materials and can be stuffed with waste materials. You'd get a big laugh out of the mother kangaroo (in Killians basement) with the baby in her pouch. Only when you pull the baby out it doesn't have hind quarters or feet. I suppose that would be too hard to make up so small. But the baby kangaroo head and chest are so realistic. I don't like the lion and cubs. They have a nice elephant. If I keep on at this rate, I'll be in the same class as father with the electric train for the boy! I love my laddie. Goodnight. I'll be in my place. Love, Laura [doodle of two smiling stick figures]
