lax. Now were are paying with these fine young lives. Suppose Maurice will be called the minute he finishes at Ames. There is no backing around now, we have to fight to win, and it may be a longer drawn out affair than the experts foresee. Detroit is making preparations against bombings, but far too slowly, I think. The Germans would love to cripple some of the huge productions here, and they will probably try, too. Do you hear from any of the girls? I owe them all letters now and must get organized so that I can write. This one to you is my first, so, at least, I've started. Just finished reading about a busy lawyer who learned three foreign languages during his spare moments, and I am wondering what is wrong with me!!!
