Saving...
Fort Dodge, Feb 13 1942 Dear Frances, I will try to write a few lines in answer to your most welcome letter. I haven't written to any of my other girls since Christmas, but will try to do so soon. I know you are anxious to get to Cedar Rapids and your husband so I hope they have found some one to take up your work at Centerville. Aunt Bessie has not been as well as usual since Christmas but is feeling better just now. There seems to be nothing to do for her. She saw her Dr. but he said there was nothing more he could do. The only hope is she will get stronger and then her nerves will improve we hope. Sometimes I think she will not get over the effects of that operation. I have had trouble with spells of rheumatism, but have been able to do enough work so we get along after a fashion. The men are busy as always. Rasmus is still here and as no one seems to want work in the country we are lucky to have him. I did not intend to shorten your name Frances even if I am partial to short names as yours is a nice short name. I wondered if Lloyd was expecting to be called in the draft. That is what so many have to think about these days. Well it is time for the mail carrier. He gets here at 9:30 war time and I get up by the old time so the morning is short. At least you will hear from us. We send best wishes and love to yourself & Lloyd - Mother -
