Ft. Dodge, Ia. Mar. 4 - 42 Dear Frances I was more than glad to receive your letter I was getting lonely. I had a letter from Susan a few days ago and that was the first I had heard of Mrs. Davis' illness, too bad but since she is better we can hope for more improvement. Please give her my best wishes and sympathy for her illness. No doubt you have told her that I am not well. I find it hard to write as my eye sight is dim and I have spells of trouble with my finger joints, due no doubt to the arthritis I have had so long but as I do not have those severe spells I had last year I am getting along very well. It also affected my feet and legs so I cannot walk outside when there is snow or ice. There is still a good deal of ice on north side of house but snow is mostly gone. The sun is bright to-day and I have not been out all winter I hope to try outside soon. Aunt Bessie has been here since Christmas. She has not been as strong as she was last fall, but now spring is near and she is expecting to go
