May 6, 1942 Dear Frances: Your letter leaves me with the feeling I gave you no "report" on mother. I thought I did. Anyhow, last week I had a letter from her saying she had not been very well and one from Aunt Bess saying mother had been in bed the week before and was still sick, althoughs she was trying to stay up. Aunt Bess has been there 2 weeks this time. She has "lost ground" this winter and is really not able to do anything. Mrs. Herbst wanted to take her to Excelsior Springs, Mo. to take the mineral baths and Bessie was going - left the first of this week I guess. I wrote asking if they had inquired about getting Gladys or her sister this summer. Have heard nothing further. Love, S.H.
