Ft Dodge - May 13 - 1942 Dear Frances I received the nice candies you sent also the card and letter. Thank you very much. I was wishing for a letter from you. Glad to know you are well and that Mrs. Davis has improved. I have not been at all well this spring, rheumatic trouble, at times quite bad. I have been able to get them something to eat but they are so busy outside everything else has to wait, corn planting is slow as it has been wet but if it stays dry a while I guess it be O.K. The lilacs are covered with blossoms and last quite well as it is cool. I would be most happy to see you and Lloyd anytime you can come. I hope to be stronger since at times I am pretty well. Have not been able to get any one to help. Gladys has a place in town this summer. Susan worries when she hears I am not so well she cannot leave her work and I do not wish her too but she will have a vacation some time this summer. So if Lloyd can get some one to do his work come when it is convenient for you. Excuse this poor letter. It is time for the mail man. With Love to you all - Mother -
