Ft. Dodge, Mar 29th Dear Frances [1945] I was glad to hear from you it seems I have not written since you were at home, but many things have made it hard for me to get writing done. First Uncle Adolph's illness, lasted all winter. He died Mar. 19. His death was expected but is always sad for those who love him, but he had a long an pleasant life. Aunt Luella is a very good woman and the children are all fine. They came to see him, all, but Robert he is in France. They came at different times through his illness. Lawrence was the only one at the last. Aunt Bessie was there quite a while. They took care of her for three months a year ago last summer at their home when she came down with Strep infection she was very ill could not sit up in bed even. She seemed to get over it, but now she is in very poor condition. She was here about six weeks but kept getting worse. We thought she should have gone to a Hospital then but she said that was no good for her, it was her nerves so she stayed until Adolph died and then she was so weak they took her to Webster City Hospital, Cora wrote me yesterday that the Dr. wanted Aunt Bess to go to Iowa City to see if she could get help there, so she is going
