September, WEDNESDAY, 25, 1861. This morning by the advice of Col. Ruger we marched up and got our pay $20 in notes 4 in specie we would not have done it had the Col. not said so. The band got $40 apiece. Emmet Flood was sworn into U.S. THURSDAY, 26. To-day is the day appointed by President Lincoln as a day of fasting & prayer, it was observed accordingly by us. I went to town to day (first time) got our Uniform last night like it first rate. FRIDAY 27. This morning when I awoke it was raining hard and continued to all day, a violent wind arose in the afternoon knocking our tents down and wetting our blankets and clothing. we had to lay down in wet clothes and sleep.
