the mass so that all the strength may be obtained. Place the essence in a clear bottle & expose it for 6 weeks to the sun & dew to purrify. One drop of this will communicate, its odor to a pint of water. Formula for "Sweet Jams." Place in a china jar 3 handfuls each of fresh damask rose leaves, sweet pinks, wall-flowers, stick-gilly flowers & any other fragrant blossoms that may be obtainable. Arrange each variety is a separate layer, & strip each thickly with powdered arrisroot. If desired an equal quantity each of powdered cloves, cin&amnr & [illegible] may be strewed with the flowers before they are placed in the jar. Everything used must be free from inistire. Cover the jar closely, & remove the lid when it is desired to perfume a room.
