Saving...
I'm still out here on the South Pacific. Have been at the same place all the while. Since I did not have any special line of skill or trade, I was placed on any job that came along, so were all the boys with a seaman's rating. Eventually most of us were rated higher. I took up cooking and am now a third class cook - a first class "belly robber" as you know the expression so well. My choice of work must have been influenced by my years at Ames. However, I can't say that I would wish to be a cook in civilian life. Laura writes occasionally. She appears to take it very well. She has plenty of work to do, it seems. Perhaps that helps to maintain her cheerful attitude during all events. Likewise, I know you can always depend upon her to remain cheerful and sincere. Hope you can write and let me in on such details of your job and travels that are of interest. Don't suppose they permit much in way of description. I wish you much good luck and all the peace of mind that can be had under your circumstances. Yours as ever, Maurice Maurice Hutchison
