Saving...
-4- Sea Bees Camp Parks, California We arrived in San Francisco on December 31 and we came directly to this camp which is some thirty miles south east. Had a thirty-day leave but no travelling time. Managed to visit most of the near relatives. Time seemed very short. However, I spent a couple days in Cedar Rapids with Laura. She has been well and seemed in good spirits - not the apple-jack variety. Yes, I would say she seems to be doing a good job of managing all the family details, as well as herself. It beats everything I ever heard when I learn of all the trouble some of our fellows have with their wives and families. I refer to what I call self made misfortune due to misconduct on their own part. I don't know about their women at home, but from the manner they carry on here, few of the men have half the trouble they deserve. Most of them would get the other half too if their acts here were known at home. This is supposed to be a rest camp but certain men would get more rest if they were confined to the camp area.
