Sept 21 1864 Wednesday morning was dull and cloudy but warm. The Sharp shooters went out and tried the Rebels they kept up a considerable of a firing all day The Artilery comenced firing about 1 P.M. but the rebels did not reply with Artilery. In the evening about dark when our pickets went out to relieve the old pickets the rebs made a charge on the pickets At 1 PM. our A. C 1st and 2nd Divis moved up in the front of the enemy in 7 lines of battle of infantry
