124 21 July, 1918. My Most Dear,-- Why do you let me eat so much? At this moment I feel like a pampered pig. Dinner tonight was too good; I couldn't go softly on it. And by way of result I'm actually uncomfortable. You see, I need my wife to take care of me. Remember how well you were succeeding in teaching me not to eat so fast? This is Sunday evening. The day has been very quiet here. We have spent a good part of it killing time at triple solitaire. Know that game? It is very absorbing -- helps to make dull minutes fly.
