on a truck. I had packed my belongings in trunk and bags and placed them on the truck.  Then came a message from G.H.Q. directing us to hold up the procession until we got later word.  We waited and waited until finally at noon came instructions to unload the truck and wait for further information.  So all afternoon we waited again in an office cluttered with packing boxes.  Late in the evening the chief came over, held a little conference with us, and decided that the move should not take place at all.  So our whole scheme to take the elegant big house and live in more interesting surroundings has gone blooey.  It makes little difference to me; I've been in the army long enough not to get my heart set on anything until it has come to pass.  But I hate to unpack again.  Probably I shall not do so at once because it is only a few days until the government will take over our house for exclusive use of visitors and we officers will have to be billeted again. 
It is rather odd that last night, after reading your paragraph about your dreaming about me, I dreamed of you for the first time in ages too.  But it was one of those deep sleep dreams that
