so far to refrain from doing so. I found the additional decorations when I came home late from a trip. If I wanted to be a joy-killer I could believe that my leaving a hundred franc note behind out of which Madame could extract what I owed her had something to do with the appearance of the flowers. But I prefer to think she did it solely out of the kindness of her heart in sympathy for my feeling regarding that picture. It was a rather eventful trip for me yesterday.
