in some hot pokey old train. It has "turned off" terribly hot and I can't stand hot weather so I've been cross as a bear. We narrowly escaped a wreck on the way from Fayetteville, and because two other trains were less fortunate than we, we had to stand in Monette over two hours while they swept up the remains. We had to change cars so often that it was a impossible to take a sleeper and we were over four hours late when we finally reached Carthage. There we went to the hotel for a little rest, and it was mighty little. I never saw such a dirty place before in all my life. Wow! We went to Nevady and were there between trains. We spent most of that time in Ballagh's Drug store because that was the coolest spot in town. And Lee
