to pick out some of the Sammy Backer stuff, and when she gets stalled, calls out, "What comes here Mother Con?" Lillian Blackburn, the dearest girl on earth, is at the sewing machine making herself a pretty summer dress, and Mama is pawing over everything in the room and talking at the top of her voice. So you see, all is peace and quiet here, as usual. I want to thank you, my own, for the wonderful, thrilling account of the war. And the beautiful part of it is that I know it is correct. You wouldn't try to fool a poor helpless woman, dear! There really is a war going on, then. Well, I suspected as much, before, tho I must admit that I never dreamed that the American troops were in it, nor that they'd wear uniforms.
