"Well, sah, I think we is gwine spread de news through France." It isn't a fair story as indicating the temper of the blacks; they are really proving to be good fighting men. But, it's a good yarn. Please tell Joe, if you tell him anything, that he'd better confine his leisure moments to the drill manual, not to writing to my wife, if he wants to continue in full health. The poor silly ass!
