Later - 22:30 o'clock. In the interval that I have been away at work and dinner Madame has substituted a pretty little vase for the drinking glass I had holding the daisies. The improvement is marked. I'm looking for your eyes to smile at the daisies, but they don't. The "where did I put those peanuts" expression continues. For a few hours a I have been hopping. The war began again last night. The Germans hit our troops in numerous places, reports of which came pouring in this evening.
