I probably - or possibly, depending on whether there is an opening - could get her a place at Iowa, but I don't want to because I don't want her to have to get acquainted there without me. I have to be on hand to conduct her triumphant entry into Iowa City. I can imagine Daphne listening to you read this, with her nose rising higher and higher and the thought growing that she'll not have her husband and mother calmly settling her future.
