ticularly as I thought then that I might be able to have you follow me and I knew that would be wonderful. I don't know what I said in the letter you comment on, but I don't regret having come to France instead of taking a desk-job in Washington. It's a great privilege to be here where the steel of American manhood is showing itself. Long ago I have satisfied my fancy for the adventure that is concerned. I should not wish to stay a moment longer for that alone. You see so beautifully why it is right that I am here and I love you more, if that is possible, for your wanting me to be here. I miss you - miss you terribly at times, but I can endure that for the sake of the greater satisfaction we shall have some day because of what we have borne. Good night, sweetestheart. Conger.
