149 August 24, 1918. Dear Friend Wife, I am no'count tonight. Most of the day I have been at G.H.Q. trying to get a few little errands done, and waiting, waiting to see folks and to get back. Nothing gets me so much as having to wait. Tonight I feel plumb worn out, but partly that is due, no doubt, to the fact that I stayed awake late last night reading the last thrilling chapters of "Greenmantle." And it was too hot to sleep comfortably. The heat left today, however, and tonight there is even a tinge of chilliness in the air.
