I was down town with her while the thing was being delivered out here, so it was a complete surprise. I never once dreamed that you'd have her get any flowers, but I said to her as we passed a florists that very day, "Oh Julie, you don't know how I want a potted plant. Do you know how much they cost?" And we had quite a little discussion about it, at the termination of which I had fully decided I couldn't have one because they are so high. You are a love! And Julie is another love to go to so much bother. Honey, I wish you knew how perfectly happy I am to belong to you and your family. And one of the nicest things about it all is to have a father. Last night they all had dinner here and then Father & Mother had our room, Julie & Fred had the girls' and Mut and I slept in Helen's. For breakfast we had waffles and then we all piled over to Mott's again for lunch. I suppose we'll sleep at Julie's
