known as detached service from the department in which I am commissioned. There is always the chance that the Adjutant General's Department will grab me and have me help it run the machinery of demobilization the minute I am released by the Intelligence Section of the A.E.F. However, I think I can work it to get to America before that happens, which won't be so bad because there you could be with my while I'm finishing my service no matter where I might be. Something I heard tonight leads me to believe that the permission for officers' wives to come to France will not be given until after peace is signed. So I'm banking everything on the chance of getting away when my two months tern here is finished. I certainly will do everything I can (and I know a few of the wrinkles of putting things through in this army) to get sent
