But that will not remedy the fact that a fine young chap, and more probably like him, has been handled like garbage - that's a rough way to put it, but accurate - simply hauled out after his death and buried. It's criminal that in a cemetery where not enough burials are taking place to keep a squad busy no respect should be shown for the men who have given their lives for their country or for the feelings of their living friends. Of course I can't write to Mr. Roland, as I had planned to do, until I have seen things righted. I'll not rest until I have located Homer's grave precisely, put a permanent marker on it, put the Stars and Stripes over it and covered it with flowers.
