bad experience of earlier in the afternoon. I stopped with the Captain to have a look at the S. and S. officers, and came on home to dinner. Turning to a brighter subject, I cannot thank you enough, dear for your wonderful letter telling about your Christmas and the two days following. How jolly they were! How I wish I could have enjoyed them with you! Father and Mother, as I know from Mother's letter were in a genuine Wonderland for them in your home. You were splendid in making them so happy. I'm glad you love them and find comfort in my fine-hearted old dad. I don't mind telling you now that my Christmas was dismal. I wouldn't admit it to myself
