nearly two months save the one in December, for the rent. Everything else I have paid for myself. But Julie cashed the two you gave her last summer, or Dec. 24th so that put us in the hole, they say. Since then, another one you wrote has came in, this month which makes it a little worse. I suppose it's an old check too - I don't know. I wish I had understood things a little better, but it's my own fault because I wouldn't talk with you. Don't worry about it, dear. I'm doing enough worrying for both of us. I've been doing some more supply teaching at Arthur, and will be busy 'til the end of the semester, and today Mr. McConnel said some very nice things to me, and about me, and offered me a regular job. I refused to take it at first because I knew you might come home or send for me, and I'd have to quit 'em, but he said he was very willing to assume all risks, and if I gave him two weeks notice, he'd call it square. Then I told him I'd not give him and two weeks notice - that when you said the word, I'd be with you, so he laughed and said I was right, and he wanted me anyway. Then I told him I didn't think I knew enough, but he raved about
