Paris, January 21, 1919. Dearest, What a state of affairs! I received notice from Washington today that records there showed my allotment to you was to run only from February 1 to July 31. I am terribly chagrined about it. I thought I had made it to run indefinitely, and, being usually very careful about my banking arrangements, I am mortified to think that I may have slipped up. However, I'm not sure there has not been a mistake in Washington. In your letter of December 30 you speak of your December allotment not having come as if allotments for preceding months had. Or were you the girl who hadn't seen a penny of her allotment since in August?
