Saving...
the chance. And I certainly am not going to buy any civilian stuff while everybody else in the country is doing it and running up prices. Captain Vogel, Lieutenant Smith, and I visited Rheims yesterday. The trip was fierce - four hours each way, most of it standing. And rain fell all the four hours we were there. Still the sight of the cathedral still marvellous in spite of its years of battering from Hun shells was worth the time and discomfort spent in seeing it. The whole city is a wreck, on a big scale like so many pitiful broken skeletons of French towns that I have seen. I'm glad to have had another reminder of the terrible aspect of war. The world must never have another. Herewith some pictures, not very good, just developed from a film shot last summer. Please save 'em. Dearest, how can I wait now thinking what two months more will bring for us? Always your Hub!
