Feb. 3, 1919 My dearest, - It doesn't do any good for me to worry over the fact that you've had flu because it's now a thing of the past. Nevertheless, when I came to the letter written in the hospital, and saying you'd be out soon the same as ever, I nearly lost what little brain I have. I was sitting all in a wad, in an easy chair before the grate, prepared to be made happy, as much by my lover's letters. Sad to relate, I read the wrong letter first. I was unable to go on with it for a moment, and sat staring into space while my heart did queer things to my throat. Luckily my sense of human came to the rescue.
