is the most necessary thing in the world to me. Without it there would be -- nothing! I feel as tho I can never go to sleep again. It's horribly late. I've had Helen down town to a show. Since she has moved to live with the McGinnis family I seldom see her, and that isn't right. Tonight her chatter didn't bother me because it didn't get to me. I couldn't even tell you what the picture was about. I can tell you this, tho: next to me sat a boy in uniform. He had no body with him, so I could pretend lots of things - which I did. I even folded my arms so he couldn't see, and in the dark I touched - oh, ever so lightly, the gold chevron on his sleeve. He didn't know a thing about it ---- but I did.
