because of any foolishness on my part. So I ate very little and exercised a great deal the first few days and everything was lovely. I sat at table with an Egyptian, Mr. Shamyer, a Frenchman, M. Maudhuit (pronounced Modwee) and a Swiss, M. Sirvet. You mustn't sound the "t" in his name for he looks dreadfully pained if you do. Fortunately all these men knew a few words of English so they helped me get along with my table steward.
