Saving...
got to wheedle the Passport Bureau into seeing that it is unjust for you to be refused. I hope measures you may have taken before this may have succeeded. But I shall do what I can too through the Embassy. I have an appointment an appointment to see the ambassador or the Chief Secretary about the matter tomorrow. Still I fear that all I can do over here will be feeble beside the pressure folks in Washington could exercise if they would. You certainly are doing nobly in pulling the wires! I hope you will have written to Gibbons. I know he'll do all he can. I shall obey your orders about holding out longer. But I want to warn you that there is a limit. When it arrives I'll turn Bolshevik, say "pooh" to your orders and go home to see you. Honestly, girl, I can't stand many more weeks without you. Enclosed herewith two checks for a total of a thousand francs. Also - my promise of fifteen billion hugs and kisses and all my love. Do hurry the collection! Utterly yours, Conger
