2. There is no other applicant for the place and we have no one but yourself in sight and it is a secret among ourselves that negotiations are even proposed. Mr. Cowles, Mr. Ingham and myself are the only ones who have even whispered it, for you know what it would do to the organization if it thought some one was going to come in carrying a whip over them, so please keep the cutout pretty well muffled and give us your most careful consideration and when you are ready to shake the dust of theeffete continent from your shoes, let us know and we will certainly be glad to get down to brass tacks on the proposition.
