August 10th 1919 Blessed little Maw and big Paw, -- If I can keep the cat off this paper long enough, I'll write you a letter on some paper I stole from Conger Reynolds. Know that guy? Neither do I. We are living in more or less excitement these days because Floyd Gibbons was due yesterday, and a great deal depends on his coming. I hope he lets Conger change to the position of Correspondant because that would be much less responsibility and would give him the chance to write! As it is now, he must devote all his time and energy to managing, and it is too nerve wearing. I want him to quit it. At the same time I don't
