Saving...
these days. The H.C.L., the scarcity of things, and strikes. Oh, by the way, Conger told me to ask you please to save all the Tribs we send because he will probably want them some day. We are going to send our Christmas boxes home very soon, to avoid all the awful tie-up which will surely come later. This is to warn you that you are not to open any package that may reach you before Xmas, unless directions to the contrary are written on the box. In our effort to dodge duty collection we shall not label our packages as Xmas boxes, do you see? Am going down town now to look for blankets. We are not going to shiver between sheets all winter, that is certain, but the wonderful wool blankets that used to be so cheap on this side now are luxuries. I wish you were here to help me shop, Mother dear. We'd have such fun running around in the shops. We both love you such heaps, bless your hearts, such drefful big heaps! Lots of kisses, n' everything from Conger & Daphne Oct. 20th '19.
