Saving...
I suppose they'll live high while it lasts. Mrs. S. has had all her jewels in pawn, but now she has been able to get them out, and she was very splendid with a black satin dress and oodles of diamonds. Mrs. Reynolds flaunted her one diamond, and knew in her own heart that it was prettier than any one else had. Besides, it was given her by the she loves more every day of her life - and I'm sure she was the happiest woman at that tea. Most of these people seem to have private incomes, but they have also private affairs with other people than their own husbands and wives, which everybody seems to accept as quite alright. I can't get their viewpoint at all, and I thank God I can't. Mrs. Sanborn is a dear girl in many ways, and Almer is very clever really, only he is too lazy to accomplish anything. I don't see what they are coming to in a financial way, but of course it's their own business.
